Portfolio – Tales Through Time Portfolio Submission
The Tithe Barn Hotel, Bedford
I was approached by a hotel chain to produce some illustrated maps to use on their websites and to handout to their guests. I illustrated these using watercolour and pen then scanned them in to add extra details.
Donnington Valley Hotel
A similar style to the previous map, zoomed out with smaller details.
Donnington Valley Hotel & Spa
This example is of a walking map I created for the Donnington Valley Hotel. They wanted to show a walk from the hotel around the local area, highlighting interesting features along the way.
Wedding Stationery
Camden Town Map
Through my stationery business Littlebird Weddings, I have created a variety of illustrated maps to sit within invitations and also for use on table plans.
This illustrated map of Camden was created for the information page of my clients invitations. They wanted to highlight the venues used for their wedding and also for celebrations around the wedding.
Lake District
This map of the Lake District was created as a seating plan for a wedding. Each area highlighted represents a table and cards were then attached to the plan to show the guests where to sit.
University Project Work
Colditz Castle
I created this illustration as part of my illustration work for University. The brief was to illustrate the hidden and create a cross-sectional or cutaway drawing for a magazine or book.
I decided to create an informative, diagrammatic illustration of Colditz Castle and the remarkable escape attempts made there during its time as a POW camp in the Second
World War.
Character Design
These fun dog characters were created as part of a short university brief looking at character design. They have a fun, playful feel to them and would be well suited to a children’s book or literature aimed at children.
A Swallows Path
For the first module of my master’s degree, my final project was a 3D carousel book exploring the migration of a swallow. Each section of the carousel book represented a season of the year and featured the swallow in it’s different environments.
The illustrations were initially hand drawn then finished off digitally.
Hugo Storyboard
This brief involved creating
an 8 – 12 panel comic or storyboard. I centred my story on two main characters: Hugo the hedgehog and
an evil fox. Inspired by my love
of nature and conservation, the story reflects how vulnerable hedgehogs
are in a world shaped by humans.
